Back from the Top End in spring

I've been up the Top End for the last three months, experiencing the spectacular beauty of Arnhem Land landscapes, as well as Indigenous culture.

With my wife Gayl  and friends, we have bushwalked on top of the escarpment at Kakadu, checking out some amazing rock art galleries; driven to the remote Cobourg Peninsula national and marine park; stayed on a wonderful pristine homeland in Yolgnu country in East Arnhem Land. We have also  enjoyed the Darwin Festival and walked some more sections of the Larapinta Trail in the West Macdonnell Ranges near Alice Springs.

It's proven an enriching and transformative experience, and over the coming years I hope to take part in shining a light on some of the many positive and dynamic aspects of Indigenous culture along with their unparalleled knowledge of country. We have come to realise how vital it is for the health of Aboriginal people and their country that people maintain a strong connection with their birthplace, their homeland.

As I've said before, we newcomers to this continent have much to learn from the fist Australians.
